Paraparaumu RSA
It's about making friends and enjoying good company!
About
Paraparaumu Memorial Returned & Services Association is based on the waterfront at 32 Marine Parade, Paraparaumu Beach on the west coast of the Wellington region.
It is one of more than 180 RSA’s around New Zealand providing comradeship and support in safe and friendly environments for members, families, friends and visitors.
Paraparaumu RSA is successfully amalgamated as part of a vibrant Club Vista, with more than 2,000 members across all age groups and interests.
Club facilities are open seven days a week and include, a restaurant and bar, gaming, snooker, billiards, a variety of adjuncts, and self-service TAB facilities.
Paraparaumu RSA has a history stretching back 95 years, to the end of World War One, and has been a cornerstone of the Paraparaumu district’s development.
It's services continue to play a major part in the district’s life, with commemorative services drawing large crowds - including many children. They also provide welfare support for its veterans and dependants, and social and recreational support for it's people.
The flag flies above Club Vista’s waterfront premises - the Ode is said twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays. Some of the important memorabilia and militaria from the RSA’s former premises are progressively going on show in the premises.
The RSA, an incorporated society, operates under its own rules based on the RNZRSA standard rules.
It is run by an Executive including a president, vice-president, and up to six Executive members elected annually.
As well as mounting major commemorative occasions including ANZAC Day and Armistice Day, the RSA supports Kapiti Coast District Council in staging the annual Civic Parade, and turns out for the annual US Marines Commemoration Service at Queen Elizabeth Park
